Aside from the North Shore's stunning beaches and untouched tropical landscape are a range of beautiful hikes for adventurous visitors to enjoy! Here are a few of our favorites.
AllTrails is also a helpful resource to view all of the trails Kauai has to offer.
Hanakapi'ai Falls (North Shore)- the trail start is located at Haena State Park. Arrive early for parking, cooler temps and less people on the trails. 4 mile round trip to Hanakapi'ai Beach and back and 8 miles round trip to Hanakapi'ai Falls and back. Moderate out and back hike.
Okolehao Trail (North Shore)- https://www.kauai.com/okolehao-trail- Check out more about this hike here. You'll enjoy great views of Hanalei Bay- but stay away if there is significant rain!
Queen's Bath (North Shore)- trail start is located in Princeville. This is a very short, but technical hike down to Queen's Bath- a series of lava rock pools. Enjoy swimming in the pools during small surf seasons and possibly catch site of some sea turtles! Moderate out and back hike.
Wai Koa Loop Trail- access at Anaina Koa Community Center. The Loop Trail will take you through the beautiful mahogany forest and past the Japanese Dam. This is best visited in the summer months when the trail is dry!
If you plan to venture to the South Shore during your stay, Waimea Canyon is a must-see.
Waimea Canyon Lookout (South Shore)- located on the South Shore past Poipu, the Waimea Canyon Lookout is a great starting point to catch the views without a difficult hike. From the lookout, choose to tackle the Waimea Canyon hike for varying out and back distances.
